- Manx National Week; a celebration of Manx Independence and our
unique culture. The main event is an open-air reading of the Island's
laws in both Manx and English on Tynwald Hill, St. Johns.
- The world famous TT Races and the Southern Hundred; including
events for vintage bikes.
- International cycling tours and car rallies.
- See the Island by steam train, go to the top of Snaefell by electric tram or
experience a ride on the horse drawn trams along Douglas Promenade.
- Nine extensive, well-planned golf courses.
- An impressive variety of Museums and historical sites.
- The Calf of Man, a small Island off the southern coast, is a nature reserve
and bird sanctuary where it is possible to see the rare native breed of
Loaghtan Sheep, as well as Seals and Basking Sharks in the summer
months.
- Sample local specialities including famous Manx Kippers, Queenies
(a small scallop), and locally produced cheeses, spirits and beers.
- The Lady Isabella or Laxey Wheel is the largest working water wheel in
the world, which was used to pump water from the Laxey Mines.
- The Annual Air Show, including a display from the Red Arrows, is held at
Jurby airfield in the North of the Island.
- Lifeboat Station 'Open Days'; go onboard the Lifeboat for a look around.
- At just 33 miles long by 13 miles wide the Island offers beautiful scenic walks for all abilities. There are many glens and coastal trails including
Raad ny Foillan (Road of the Gull - approx 90 miles) and Bayr ny
Skeddan (the Herring Road - approx 14 miles).
